AdvanceSpace Focus

AdvanceSpace is currently focused on development of the Commercial Space industry, specifically the Virginia Commercial Space Flight Authority (VCSFA) Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport (MARS) at Wallops Island (pictures below).

MARS Pad 0A

  • The new Orbital Antares launch vehicle is scheduled to begin resupplying the International Space Station from MARS Pad 0A in 2013.
  • NASA selected Virginia based Orbital Sciences Corporation to participate in the Commercial Orbital Transportation Services (COTS) and Commercial Resupply Service (CRS) programs to build a new rocket, Antares, to resupply the International Space Station (ISS).  The CRS contract authorizes eight missions up to the year 2016 carrying  approximately 20,000 kg of cargo to ISS.

MARS Pad 0B

  • NASA Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer (LADEE) is scheduled to launch to the Moon from MARS Pad 0B in 2013 on the new Orbital Minotaur V launch vehicle.
  • Also in 2013, the Operationally Responsive Space (ORS) Office is scheduled to launch the ORS-3 'Enabler 1' mission from MARS Pad 0B on the Orbital Minotaur I launch vehicle.
  • Most recently, the ORS Office launched ORS-1 from MARS Pad 0B with a Minotaur I launch vehicle on June 29, 2011.
